7. how does the heart function as a pump?

Heart is a hollow muscular organ of vertebrate animals including us Humans and that by its rhythmic contraction acts as a pump maintaining the circulation of the blood. Our heart is a muscle. It pumps all blood vessels containing important nutrients throughout our body (circulatory system).

The right side of our heart receives "oxygen-poor" blood from veins that contains carbon dioxide. The Heart will pump it through the lungs in order to clean it and to remove the carbon dioxide, the "clean" blood will be called "oxygen-rich" blood.

The left side our heart receives the "oxygen-rich" blood that comes from the lungs, and it will pump it  through our arteries, to the rest of our body.
This two side of our heart are called the pumping system.

Our heart also has chambers, there are four of them, two on the left and right side.
- The "right atrium" receives oxygen-poor blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle via the tricuspid valve.

- The "right ventricle" pumps the oxygen-poor blood to the lungs via the pulmonary valve.

- The "left atrium" receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle via the mitral valve.

- The "left ventricle" pumps the oxygen-rich blood via the aortic valve out to the rest of the body.

8. Specific uses and function of Water pumP

Based on my understanding, heart is a double pump.

It is divided into two parts:
1.Left
2.Right.

The Right side of the heart
is where it receives poor-oxygen blood(right atrium) from veins and pumps it to the lungs(right ventricle), it picks up oxygen and unloads or get rids of the carbon dioxide. The parts responsible for this is the right atrium and the right ventricle

The Left side of the heart
receives rich-oxygen blood(left atrium) from the lungs and pumps(left ventricle) it to the rest part of the body.

18. How does the heart function as a pump?
